Out now! Pizza Hut has just released a cheesy food mash-up that no one saw coming: Stuffed Cheez-It Pizza
Crave-worthy: The new snack is comprised of four cheese-flavored squares, each filled with either cheese or pepperoni and cheese, plus a side of marinara dipping sauce
Hurry and eat up! It’s now available for a limited time across the US
The $6.49 dish hit menus this week, and the brand says it had college students in mind — though it’s intrigued a wider audience as well.
‘We pride ourselves on being the go-to for unexpected pizza innovations, and I can’t think of a more bada** partner than Cheez-It to bring our next original menu item to life,’ Marianne Radley, chief brand officer for Pizza Hut, said in a press release.
‘Not to mention, this collab is the perfect way to kick off football season, combining America’s go-to gameday cravings into one next-level snack.’
‘Kellogg’s iconic Cheez-It brand brings a whole new dining experience to Pizza Hut lovers and will not disappoint,’ added Wendy Davidson, President, Kellogg’s U.S. Specialty Channels.
Not into it: Some people are grossed out by the concoction
‘The Stuffed Cheez-It Pizza is an example of two great companies leveraging their strengths to delight guests with a new experience on a classic favorite.’
As with most over-the-top food debuts, the Cheez-It Pizza has had some detractors.
‘This made actually gag and I love both pizza and Cheez-its,’ wrote one.
‘I’ve been depressed but I’ve never been “try the cheez-it pizza” from Pizza Hut depressed,’ said another.
‘Goodbye arteries!’ said a third, with a nauseated green emoji, with others expressing similar sentiments.
Yum! Others are excited by it, with several who’ve tried it saying it’s ‘good’
But quite a few people are very excited to try it out, and several who already have are raving about it.
‘Ok, the verdict is in: Pizza Hut cheez it pizza is good. Tastes just like the real thing. It even smells like them. Haha. They are small though, could be bigger,’ said one, while another called it ‘not unpleasant.’
‘The IGN LA office has tasted of the Stuffed Cheez-It Pizza and it is good. Like a mozzarella stick with a soft Cheez-It shell,’ wrote IGN editor Joshua Yehl.
‘Dough texture is reminiscent of a toaster strudel, the inside tastes like the middle of a tostino’s pizza roll, strong cheez it scent and slight cheez it aftertaste, overall I’m not mad at it,’ added a third.
Delicious! Cheez-It and House Wine unveiled a very convenient package that combines the cheesy crackers and red wine earlier this summer
Perfect combination: The Cheez-It and wine box sold for a limited time for $25
Handy! Cheez-It and House Wine also curated custom pairings for a variety of tastes
Back in July, Cheez-It teamed up with House Wine for a wine and crackers collaboration.
The limited-edition product, which sold for 425 for a limited time, was one part box of Original Cheez-Its, one part Original Red Blend box of House Wine.
‘We are thrilled to partner with House Wine to combine their expertise and America’s favorite 100% real cheese snack into one portable box,’ Jeff Delonis, senior marketing director for Kellogg’s U.S. Snacks division, said.
‘Many of our fans were already exploring pairing different wines with Cheez-It. Just like wine and cheese, you can pair the real cheese inside each Cheez-It flavor with the perfect wine complement and find a pair to enjoy all summer long,’ he added.
In addition to the boxed product, Cheez-It and House Wine curated custom Cheez-It and wine pairings for a variety of tastes.
To bring out the real cheese notes inside more Cheez-It flavors, the brands recommend varietals to pair, including White Cheddar Cheez-Its with a glass of rosé.
They also recommend eating Extra Toasty Cheez-Its with a glass Sauvignon Blanc, while the Cheez-It Duoz are best when paired with chardonnay.
