A mother’s engagement band dating back to the 80s has been dubbed the ‘ugliest ring ever’ in a savage online take down.
It was shared by the unnamed woman’s daughter, from Washington, on the Facebook group That’s it, I’m Ring Shaming, who explained that she calls it the ‘sweater destroyer.’
The unusual piece consists of a large gold band mounted with a diamond mounted on high setting, bearing a striking resemblance to a doorknob.
She said her father had proposed to her mother with ring, which was passed on to her when she turned 18.
But many were unimpressed by the piece of jewelry, calling it the ‘ugliest ring ever.’

Some were quick to point out the diamond looked like a vintage doorknob or a nail.
‘Looks like A DOORKNOB,’ one pointed out, while a fellow commenter chimed in, ‘Surely he nicked that off the front of a drawer somewhere.’
People called the ring the ‘ugliest ever,’ whilst other pointed out that the mother must have really loved the man to accept his proposal
‘At least it doubles as a mirror so she can look at herself and re-evaluate her choices,’ one said.
Many romantic souls joked that the woman’s mother must have really loved her husband to say yes to that ring.
‘Your mom must have REALLY loved him,’ one wrote.
‘Love is blind….or causes blindness…something like that. Haha,’ joked another.
‘It’s so nice of your mom to love your dad through the decision to buy this ring for her. She’s so brave,’ said one.
A more straight-forward person simply joked: ‘Does your dad hate your mom?’
