Sean Spicer was overcome with emotion on Dancing With the Stars on Monday as he dedicated his performance to his late father who died of cancer in 2016.

The former White House press secretary dressed up as Woody from Toy Story for the Disney-themed night as he wowed the judges with his quickstep.

But Spicer choked up in tears as he honored his father following the dance with professional partner Lindsay Arnold, describing him as ‘a great friend’ and an ‘inspiration’.

And the Disney-inspired night held significant meaning for Spicer, who revealed his family took a trip to Disneyland in 2015 after his father was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

‘We wanted to bring the whole family together for that Disney experience and create a memory that will last forever, not just for me, but for my children as well,’ Spicer said.

‘This is an opportunity to pay homage to my father, a great man, a great friend, a great inspiration,’ he said.

‘I’d like to dedicate this dance to my dad and all the fathers out there suffering from cancer but still being the best dad that they can’.

After the dance, Spicer struggled to hold back tears as he recalled the memory of his father at Disneyland.

‘It was a great experience to be able to share that whole experience with my kids and my mother and father,’ he said. ‘So to know that it was actually the ride that we went on, it was kind of cool.’
