Police searching for missing Welsh rugby player Brooke Morris have found a body in a stretch of the River Taff.
Officers had been carrying out searches of rivers and waterways near Trelewis in Merthyr Tydfil following the 22-year-old’s disappearance on Saturday.
She was last seen at about 2.30am after her friends had given her a lift home from the town centre, but detectives believed she had not gone inside.
It is believed she then walked towards a bridge which crosses the river near her home.
A South Wales Police statement said: “Formal identification has not yet taken place, but Brooke’s family have been informed and continue to be supported by officers.”
Ms Morris’ disappearance sparked a huge search in and around local waterways and woods near her home.
Volunteers and members of Ms Morris’ rugby team joined the search and the Central Brecon Mountain Rescue team were involved on Sunday.
Ms Morris’ clubmates at Nelson RFC also shared appeals on social media for information on her whereabouts.
On Facebook, Nelson RFC posted: “Brooke’s family and Belles family are really concerned for her whereabouts. Please share or get in touch with the police if you have any info.
“The local community have been amazing the last 24 hours.
“Please come home Brooke your Belles are missing you.”
Following the news, a Nelson RFC posted two heart emojis on their Facebook page.
