‘Karl will be right at home’: Allison Langdon takes a cheeky stab at Today co-host Karl Stefanovic while joking about ‘drunk’ stars at the Golden Globes – after he admitted to doing Logies coverage ‘smashed’

It might only be their third day of co-hosting the Today show together but that hasn’t stopped Alison Langdon taking a cheeky stab at Karl Stefanovic.

During a live cross to the Golden Globes red carpet in Los Angeles, US correspondent Charles Croucher called the event ‘the drunker awards’ ceremony.

Without skipping a beat, cheeky Allison joked, ‘Karl will be right at home,’ in reference to his infamous lackluster performance on the Today Show after the Logies in 2009.

‘There is probably some comparisons you can draw….’ Charles joined in on the friendly ribbing.

In a video Comedy Oz posted to Youtube in 2014, Karl admitted he was drunk when he hosted the post-Logies show next to Lisa Wilkinson, but he didn’t think it was a big deal as everyone had been doing it ‘for years’.

During the program Karl was seen slurring, giggling uncontrollably and told Lisa she ‘looked beautiful’.

‘It wasn’t any different to any other year – we all get smashed at the Logies and go to work the next day; we’d done it for years and years. But this was the first Logies when stuff really started working on the internet,’ he said.

This isn’t the first time one Karl’s co-stars have cheekily brought up the incident at his expense.

In the lead up to last years Logies, former co-host Lisa Wilkinson referenced Karl’s most infamous moment in a particularly savage tweet.

Lisa made the comment in a Twitter thread involving the likes of Shaun Micallef, Peter Helliar and Rove McManus about the most effective way to win a Gold Logie.

‘You’re missing the point, the lot of you,’ she tweeted. ‘If you really want the Gold, just drink A LOT, then come on air with me, tell me how beautiful I am, and I’ll nurse you through it all. It’s worked before’.

Despite much of Monday’s program being dedicated to bushfire coverage, the new Today co-hosts managed to keep the mood entertaining and Karl even made jokes at his own expense.
