Aston Villa vs Manchester United match updates

Manchester United took on Aston Villa in a pre-season friendly at Villa Park earlier today.

The game kicked off at 2pm, though media were denied access and no official information has been released regarding team news or match details as yet. Rumours that Villa won the game 1-0 courtesy of an Ollie Watkins goal have not been corroborated.

But the game is now being shown in full with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to test his players before United’s Premier League campaign begins at home to Crystal Palace next week.

United have been allowed an extra week off, to allow them at least a 30-day gap between seasons, after they participated in the latter stages of the Europa League last month.

The United team has been confirmed, as follows:

Henderson; Dalot, Fosu-Mensah, Maguire, Shaw; McTominay, Van de Beek’ Rashford, Lingard, James; Ighalo.

Subs: Grant, Williams, Garner, Mengi, Galbraith, Elanga
