Cadbury Caramilk set to return to Australian supermarket shelves

Cadbury is set to bring back its highly sought-after Caramilk after the caramelised white chocolate sold out across Australia.

The $5 block of chocolates were so popular to such an extent that supermarkets were forced to implement a limit of two per customer.

Over the weekend, the confectionery brand made a sweet announcement the fan favourite treat will be returning to supermarket shelves.

‘We have some good news… Caramilk is coming back. Get ready… Back by popular demand,’ the brand said in a Facebook post – but didn’t reveal an exact date for the launch of the chocolate.

Thousands of shoppers were delighted to hear the news, with many joking they have been ‘struggling’ for months without the Caramilk.

‘This is like catnip for humans. I need some in isolation,’ one woman said, while another added: ‘Thank god. Seriously need this to get through most weeks! Have had to resort to Caramilk Twirls – but they just aren’t the same!’

‘This is the only best thing that’s happened in 2020,’ another woman said.

Another said: ‘Please Cadbury, when will it be back? So depressing hearing that it’s coming back but no set date. My husband goes to the confectionery and chocolate aisle in every supermarket when we are out.’

A supermarket employee, from Sydney, claimed the Caramilk chocolates are set to return at the start of next month.

‘I work in a supermarket and I was told today to keep my eyes open for a return to shelves from July 1,’ she said in the Caramilk Addicts Club Facebook group.

Other shoppers called on the brand to make Caramilk a ‘permanent line already’, with one saying: ‘Please tell me it’s a permanent range. So sick of it coming out for a couple of weeks then it goes into hiding again.’

‘Thank goodness. I wondered where it went. I only got one block last time and I loved it! Please make it permanent,’ one woman said.

Another said: ‘It better come out and stay out for good. And they better increase the number of stock they supply to each of the supermarkets as it sells out a lot quicker than the other blocks of Cadbury chocolates.’

And one woman added: ‘I was literally looking for this the other day, I think it should stay on the shelf permanently! Cadbury stop taking it off the supermarket shelves please.’

Many chocolate fans said they were looking forward to stockpiling the product in case it sells out again.

‘I’m ready to stock my entire freezer full,’ one woman said.

The Caramilk chocolates first hit supermarket shelves in 1994 before it was discontinued. But the brand announced the return of the range in 2018 and 2019 for a limited time only.
