Millennials are complaining about how old they feel after watching a video in which top college football players can’t identify Britney Spears, TLC, the cast of Seinfeld, or an image of the AOL dial-up screen.

As Louisiana State University played (and beat) Clemson University in the NCAA College Football Championship game on Monday, ESPN had a bit of fun with some of the teams’ players, who were born between 1998 and 2001.

In a video that the network shared on Twitter, the players are shown pictures of famous performers, TV shows, and technology from the ’90s — and fail miserably to name them, mistaking a …Baby One More Time-era Britney Spears for Lady Gaga and TLC for Destiny’s Child.

‘They may be playing for a national championship, but can some of these @ClemsonFB and @LSUfootball players identify Britney Spears? SPOILER: No they can’t,’ ESPN tweeted

The video — which has been viewed a million times in less than 24 hours — features players including Trevor Lawrence, Grant Delpit, and Ja’Marr Chase from LSU, and Justyn Ross from Clemson.

After sharing the years they were born, the young men are given index cards with photos on them, and asked to name what they see.

Again and again, they were stumped.

Holding a still of Britney Spears in the …Baby One More Time music video — an iconic shot of the singer in her schoolgirl uniform and pigtails — the players grasp for a name without success.

They guess that the picture shows Lady Gaga, Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff, and ‘the girl on Zoey 101’ — which was pretty close, since the star of that show was Britney’s little sister Jamie Lynn.

‘I don’t know who that is,’ says one, while another insists: ‘I ain’t ever seen her before in my life.’

They’re also presented with an image of the dial-up screen for AOL, showing the three icons that indicated that a sign-on was successful. In the late ’90s, the image was accompanied by the screeching sound of a modem.

‘I’m trying to figure out what the hell this is,’ one says. ‘What is this, actually?’

‘Is this, like, a website or something?’ asks another player, while a third jaw-droppingly asks if it’s MySpace.

Even when they’re informed that it’s AOL, one asks what that is, wondering if it’s a game.

When told that it’s how people got online, he asks, ‘On line what?’

Several manage to identify a VCR, though two fumble for the name and guess that it’s a ‘movie player’ or ‘DVD player.’

Next, they’re shown an image of the rapper Nas, who released his last album in 2018 and has been active since 1994.

‘I feel like I should know him but I don’t,’ says one.

Others says ‘I don’t know,’ with one guessing Bow Wow — but several do manage to name him.

When shown an iconic still from the movie Titanic with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet ‘flying’ on the bow of the ship, one player guesses ‘Romeo & Juliet.’

A snap of TLC stumps them as well, with one player guessing the Spice Girls and another guessing Destiny’s Child.

A photo of the cast of Seinfeld prompts the players to name Friends and the Big Bang Theory.

In fact, the only image that most of the players correctly identity is a promotional still for the Martin Lawrence sitcom Martin, which is still run in syndication on BET.

Since the video was posted, it has spurred quite a number of shocked reactions on Twitter from older users who are bewildered that people too young to know Britney Spears or TLC can  be old enough to play college ball.

‘I feel old, but that was hilarious. When he said “online what” when they explained AOL,’ wrote ESPN reporter Tom VanHaaren.

‘“Spice Girls”!!!!!!! Oh these boys need to be educated smdh,’ another Twitter user chimed in.

‘Everything was all fun and games until they couldn’t identify Nas,’ said a third, while a fourth wrote: ‘This makes me so sad and feel really really really old.’
