Confirmed Watford team to play Tottenham in pre-season friendly at Vicarage Road

The new season is just a week away.

Watford will be hoping to bounce straight back following their relegation to the Championship last season.

And they will be going into the Championship season with a new look.

Following Nigel Pearson’s sacking, Vladimir Ivic is the new head coach, joining the Hornets from Maccabi tel Aviv, with whom he won the league last season, suffering just one defeat.

On the pitch, the Hornets fans will have some new faces to cheer on this season, albeit from behind their TV screens until fans are allowed back into stadiums following the coronavirus pandemic, with teenager Jeremy Ngakia joining on a free transfer from West ham and Glenn Murray signing a season-long loan deal from Brighton.

With the international break taking place, a number of players will be absent, with Jose Mourinho bringing a weakened side to Vicarage Road, although not as weak as many would have expected, with the likes of Heung-min Son, Dele Alli, Erik Lamela and Davinson Sanchez all starting.

Ivic has decided against throwing Murray straight into the starting lineup, with the veteran striker having to accept a place on the bench against Tottenham today.

Ngakia, however does start.

Confirmed Watford team to face Spurs: Bachmann, Kabasele, Wilmot, Dawson, Ngakia, Chalobah, Dele-Bashiru, Estupiñán, Cleverley, Quina, Gray. Subs: Parkes, Sierralta, Navarro, Agyakwa, Stevenson, Phillips, Crichlow, João Pedro, Peñaranda, Murray.
