The boxing world can witness another cross-promotion event if Manny Pacquiao and UFC star Conor McGregor lock horns against each other.
The fantasy fight seems to have received a green signal with McGregor’s recent tweet that sent the fight fans into a frenzy.
Anyway all water under the bridge who gives a fook.
I’m boxing Manny Pacquiao next in the Middle East.
— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) September 25, 2020
If materialized, McGregor vs Pacquiao has all the potential to be the biggest fight of combat sports. But where do Pac-Man’s boxing rivals stand at this point? From Errol Spence Jr. to Yordenis Ugas, several boxers are hunting for Pacquiao.
Pacquiao may choose to fight them. However, Conor McGregor is still the best option for the Filipino senator.
Several factors prioritize the contest over anything else. Money, fame, challenge, retirement, management, there is more than one reason for Pac-Man to step inside the ring against McGregor.
Conor McGregor and Manny Pacquiao can be the fight for the ages
Pacquiao (62-7-2) has got multiple roles to play other than a boxer. He is the senator of his country and has a huge responsibility on his shoulders. Thus, he might retire from boxing soon.
In August, Pacquiao’s coach Freddie Roach told Boxing Scene that the Filipino star is looking for one or two more fights in his pro boxing run. Thus, he can end his career on a high note by beating McGregor in a stellar contest.
Pacquiao has nothing more to prove. Facing an MMA star in boxing makes more sense than fighting young boxers in their prime.
It is no surprise that McGregor is one of the biggest faces of combat sports. Despite accepting one fight in 2020, he has still made it to the sixteenth spot on Forbes Highest-Paid Athletes. The Irishman is a massive draw, and Pacquiao can bag one of the biggest paychecks of his career.
That said, Manny Pacquiao is a superstar of similar stature. He need not rely on anyone for a lucrative paycheck. However, McGregor can still add some extra pie to the lot by jumping into the ring against him.
Same Management – Easy Deal
Also, considering the tussles of management policies and paperwork, McGregor and Pacquiao won’t have to face those hazards. They belong to the same management – Paradigm sports. Thus, it is just a matter of agreement until the deal is sealed.
Looking at Pacquiao’s recent status as a political figure, he might not want to get into the politics of boxing. Thus, McGregor is a better option for him any day. The entire fight fanbase is thrilled, and they are waiting for an official confirmation.
