  •  A school teacher driving home has had a very lucky escape from a run away tyre
  •  Napha Kaewmanee, 55, was on the motorway when the tyre  into her car
  •  A passing lorry had lost the wheel when the bolts securing the tyre sheared off

A teacher from Thailand has had a very close brush with death after a tyre lost by a passing lorry smashed into the front of her car.

Napha Kaewmanee, 55, had left school to return home and was driving along the motorway.

Passing from a tight-knit village onto the wider road, she accelerates through the minimal traffic.

Travelling in the inside lane she’s making quick progress when suddenly a dark flash begins bounding across the central reservation.

A tyre from a passing lorry had sheared from the bolts that held it down, sending the rubber projectile towards Napha.

The tyre smashes into the front of the car before bouncing over the rest, the crumple zone of the white Honda, leaving twisted metal around the engine block.

Point of impact: The tyre shoots across the central reservation, directly into the path of Napha's car

Luckily, Napha and the truck driver were left shaken but otherwise unharmed as they stood to the side of the road.

The truck can be seen having crashed into a ditch, scattering pressurized gas cylinders across the side of the road, it is not known if they were empty at the time of the crash.

Close up footage shows the end of the wheel axle has been left almost completely smooth after losing the securing bolts.

Napha said that the wheel came at her so fast she didn’t even have time to react, as can be seen in the video when she makes no attempt to swerve.
