FSU, Georgia Tech football game delayed by lightning

The FSU vs. Georgia Tech football game is scheduled to resume at 5:35 p.m. ET, according to FSU. 

If the teams resume play at that time, the rain relay will have lasted 1 hour, 18 minutes. 

Including the 30-minute pregame delay, that is a total delay of 1 hour, 48 minutes for this game. 

The FSU vs. Georgia Tech football game kicked off after a delay at 4 p.m. ET, but a second delay occurred with 8:05 left in the first quarter. 

The first-quarter delay started at 4:17 p.m. ET and is required to last at least 30 minutes.

FSU leads Georgia Tech 7-0 during the first-quarter weather delay.

FSU, Georgia Tech football pregame lightning delay

Lightning initially forced the Florida State and Georgia Tech football teams off the field at 2:58 p.m. ET ahead of a game scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. ET, according to the Florida State football Twitter account. 

FSU football tweeted that the teams are scheduled to return to the field at 3:15 p.m. ET and the kickoff for the game is moved to 4 p.m. ET.

The Florida State football team went 6-7 overall and 4-4 in the Atlantic Coast Conference during the 2019 season. It completed the year with a 20-14 loss to Arizona State in the 2019 Sun Bowl.

In 2019, Georgia Tech went 3-9 overall and 2-6 in the ACC. 

Georgia Tech won the last matchup between the two programs 22-16 on Oct. 24, 2015. Florida State leads at 14-12-1 in the all-time series, which started in 1903.
