The Milwaukee Bucks experienced a disappointing end to their season after being eliminated by the Miami Heat in the second round. Now, the focus shifts to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the franchise considering next year he will be on an expiring contract.

Between unfollowing the Bucks’ official account on social media along with his teammates, Antetokounmpo caught the attention of many on Saturday. Additionally, having a meeting with ownership only added to the speculation about the reigning MVP’s future with the franchise.

According to Brandon Robinson of Heavy.com, Antetokounmpo did not request a trade in his meeting with the Bucks. Instead, he expressed his desire to play for a winning culture and for a team that is willing to use an untraditional approach in roster construction.

It will be interesting to see what the Bucks end up doing in the offseason considering this could be their final chance to win-it-all with Antetokounmpo. Now is the time to take risks and ensure the team takes the next step in post-season play.

It does seem the Bucks would benefit from adding a shot creator with playmaking skills considering Eric Bledsoe has underachieved in this regard. Many point to Milwaukee not matching Malcolm Brogdon’s contract offer from the Indiana Pacers, but he wasn’t the answer either.

It’s still very early in the whole process for the Bucks and the start of next season is likely many months away. However, they have already been connected to Chris Paul as a possible landing spot and with the season he just had with the Thunder, the idea is intriguing, nevertheless.

The NBA may be the league that applies the most pressure on teams to experience immediate results to be able to keep star players. For Giannis Antetokounmpo, winning in the regular season isn’t enough considering the objective is to win championships.

The rest of the NBA world will have to wait to see what the Milwaukee Bucks have in the works.
