CAVANI OPEN TO UNITED MOVE
Manchester United aren’t having much joy in their search for a loan striker, if Tuesday’s whispers are to be believed…
Edinson Cavani would certainly fit the bill and the 32-year-old made clear to PSG over the weekend that he wanted to be allowed to move this month. Indeed, the Manchester Evening News says Cavani would be open to joining the Red Devils, but there is no prospect of borrowing the Uruguay forward.
PSG want cold, hard cash to wave Cavani off this month, and plenty of it. They have already turned down an £8.5million offer, with some reports claiming the Ligue 1 champions are looking for around three times that amount, which is ludicrous given Cavani could walk away for nothing at the end of the season.
RED DEVILS EYE DEMBELE DEAL
If United are to fork out for a striker, then they may move for a target they’ve had in mind since the summer.
Foot Mercato in France suggests the Red Devils are lining up an offer for Moussa Dembele. The Lyon striker has scored 11 goals in 19 Ligue 1 appearances this term but Jean-Michel Aulas may be open to doing business if Ed Woodward plonks £43million on the table.
FERNANDES ‘CONFIDENT’ OF UNITED MOVE
Woodward doesn’t just cough up, though, as Sporting Lisbon are finding out…
Bruno Fernandes has reportedly told friends, who’ve told the Daily Record, that he’s ‘confident’ of being a Manchester United player by the end of the month. But there doesn’t yet appear to be any breakthrough in negotiations since the weekend when the two clubs were £13million apart.
UNITED LINE UP BRUNO BACK-UP
So United are said to be making contingency plans in the event Sporting don’t cave in the coming 10 days.
Sky Italia says Matias Vecino could be United’s Plan B. The Uruguay midfielder isn’t first choice under Antonio Conte, who has selected Vecino in his starting XI in just half of Inter Milan’s Serie A matches this season.
INTER AND SPURS EDGING CLOSER OVER ERIKSEN
The story goes that Vecino will leave should Inter sign Christian Eriksen. But The Italians are still some way off agreeing a fee with Tottenham for the Denmark playmaker.
The Guardian reports that Inter will today up for their offer to £12.8million plus add-ons to take Eriksen this month, rather than wait until the end of the season. But Daniel Levy wants £17million for the 27-year-old, according to the Daily Mail.
WERNER PREFERS LIVERPOOL MOVE
Timo Werner won’t be moving this month but the RB Leipzig striker certainly seems to have ambitions of joining the Premier League party in the not-too-distant future.
Liverpool were linked with the Germany striker over the weekend, with United and Chelsea also among his admirers. But Bild says Werner’s ‘preferred goal’ would be a switch to Anfield.
The Reds would have to cough up £50million to buy Werner out of his current contract, which has another three and a half years still to run.
AND THE REST
Wilfried Zaha is willing to stay at Palace for the rest of the season while no club meets their £80million valuation… Palace are expecting to sign 18-year-old Dundee United winger Scott Banks… Everton have rejected two offers for Mason Holgate with Newcastle, Bournemouth and Sheffield United all interested… Tottenham could make an offer for Sheffield United defender Jack O’Connell… Southampton are to resist interest from Celta Vigo in Oriol Romeu… Bournemouth are keen on Borussia Dortmund winger Jacob Bruun Larsen… Newcastle won’t meet Hull’s £20million valuation for Jarrod Bowen… The Magpies are hopeful of signing Valentino Lazaro from Inter in time for the weekend… Leicester are being linked with Fenerbahce’s Max Kruse… Wolves are willing to pay £21.3million for Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Dani Olmo.
