The Carabao Cup has some tasty fixtures in the fourth round and none are bigger than Liverpool against Arsenal at Anfield on Wednesday.

The Gunners’ preparations have been dominated by the fall out from their captain Granit Xhaka’s confrontation with his own fans, which has seen him left out of the travelling squad.

The midfielder reacted angrily after being booed by his own fans at the Emirates at the weekend, swearing towards the crowd, taking his shirt off and storming down the tunnel.

Mesut Ozil is included in the squad, though, and his last appearance in an Arsenal shirt came in September in the competition.

Liverpool have also confirmed they will be making a change for the match, with youngster Caoimhin Kelleher getting his chance between the sticks.

Here is how the two teams could line-up for the Carabao Cup clash, which you can listen to live on talkSPORT 2.

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp is likely to make 11 changes to his line up, some enforced and some to rotate his side.

Joel Matip and Xherdan Shaqiri are definitely out of the contest, as confirmed by assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders.

He said: “Shaq will only be back after the international break.

“We want to give him the time. With a calf injury it is always very high risk, especially with calves.

“Joel’s knee is still irritated – we need to give him time. I don’t know the exact time he will need but it will really need time to heal.”

Liverpool’s third-choice goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher will continue his run in the Carabao Cup.

Ljinders confirmed the Irishman, who made his competitive debut in the previous round’s win at MK Dons, will remain in the side despite Alisson Becker’s return to fitness meaning Adrian – who was covering for the Brazil international last month – would normally be in line.

“For me consistency is the most important thing if you want to give players an opportunity,” said Ljinders about the 20-year-old.

“We have Ali as our number one, more than a number one, and Adrian did an unbelievable job for us. Caiomhin started this competition and he will start tomorrow.

“For his age as a goalkeeper, he is very stable. That’s what we like about him. We see a good future for him and want to give him his opportunity and you need these opportunities to grow.”

“He is ready,” added Ljinders.

“We can’t forget Harvey is still only 16 and we have to be careful. I see, from working with him, a really educated boy and one who is really passionate for the game.”
