Shocked: Commenters could not get over how the female body changes to help push out the baby. The bulge is ‘completely normal’ and makes space for the baby coming out

‘Can you see that bulge on her lower back? That is the rhombus of Michaelis,’ the center informed the public in its caption accompanying the image.

The post continued: ‘During the second stage of labor, a combination of bones including your sacrum actually move backwards and in doing so, increases the diameter of your pelvis.

Why do a woman’s bones move during child birth?

According to the experts at Tangi Birth Services, it is ‘completely normal’ for several bones in the woman’s sacrum move backwards in order to increase the diameter of the pelvis to make room for the baby.

The bulge that is created as a result is not something to be feared, and in almost every single case, the bones return to their original position after the baby is delivered.

In order to better allow for the bone movement, upright birthing positions where the woman is leaning forward are preferred.

‘This is what is known as opening of the back.’

Although the image can look shocking to most people, the center went on to state it is ‘completely normal’ for a women to experience the bulge during birth.

‘[It] is in fact an integral part of a physiological birth as it allows your baby the maximum amount of space to turn as they navigate their way out into the world,’ the post explained.

‘In order to facilitate the opening of your back, you should use active birth positions where you are upright and leaning forwards.’

The female body is not the only one to go through changes.

While the pelvis in the female body expands to fit the baby as he or she is pushed through, the baby’s head also adjusts in order to adapt to the size of the birth canal.

‘Your body was made to do this! And your body and your baby work together! Birth is not something to be feared… it is something to be understood,’ Tangi Birth Center stated at the end of its post.

Commenters were still shocked by the bulge that appears at the back of a woman’s body when she is giving birth.

But people also recognized how powerful it is that a body is able to transform to accommodate new life.

‘The more I read about childbirth and labor the more new things I learn about our bodies as women. It’s truly an amazing experience. Powerful, exhilarating and I truly feel like the goddess I am to bring life into this world,’ one commenter wrote.

The post was shared more than 50,000 times after first getting published on Sept. 19 as more and more people reacted to the image.

‘I gave birth in my room all alone and this is exactly the position my body went in to deliver. Amazing. Our bodies are so powerful,’ a commenter revealed.

Another woman had no idea this is what happened while she gave birth to her child.

She wrote: ‘My husband told me about this! I give birth on my knees and he said the base of my back pushed out. Fascinating to see a photo of it thank you…And ouch! No wonder I found labor worse on my back! I soon flipped over.’
