Packer, 52, purchased the space back in 2017, when the council had originally approved the construction of six luxury apartments with 18 bedrooms between them.

Each of the original six apartments planned to have a single parking space, all of which Packer now plans to keep for himself, according to The Australian

Sydney lord mayor Clover Moore, slammed the move and called it ‘excessive and counter to sound urban planning and concept plan principles’.

It is not clear if Packer himself will be living in the penthouse, only that the original plans had been changed to merge the six apartments into one at the buyer’s request.

Forbes estimated in January that Packer had a net worth of $3.6billion – making him Australia’s ninth richest person.

Packer, who owns a 36.8 per cent majority share of Crown, said he plans to return to Sydney once the project is finally complete.

‘Having this hotel gives Crown three incredible resorts across the country, employing thousands of workers and attracting tourists from across the globe,’ he previously told Daily Mail Australia.

‘I grew up in Sydney and my kids still spend time here, it’s a beautiful place and I hope to spend more time visiting.’
