Janet Jackson Fans Still Don't Forgive Justin Timberlake After The 2004 Super Bowl Performance, And I Really Don't Blame Them

Over the weekend, the new Janet Jackson documentary, simply titled Janet Jackson, premiered on Lifetime.

Lifetime

The documentary follows Jackson’s personal life and legendary career in the music world, and ultimately covers a major event people still talk about today: Her Super Bowl XXXVIII performance with Justin Timberlake back in 2004.

If you’re unaware, towards the end of their performance, Timberlake removed a piece of clothing from Jackson’s outfit, revealing her breast. As a result of the performance, the Grammys banned Jackson from singing at the awards in 2004, MTV stopped playing her singles and music videos, and she went on talk shows to “apologize for her behavior.” Meanwhile, Timberlake faced zero consequences, and was given several platforms to “defend himself.”

In the new documentary, Jackson says, “It was an accident that should not have happened, but everyone is looking for someone to blame, and that’s got to stop.” She essentially asked her fans to stop slandering Timberlake because they’re “very good friends” and “have moved on, and it’s time for everyone else to do the same.”

Although Jackson and Timberlake have personally moved on from the 2004 Super Bowl performance, a lot of Jackson’s fans have not, and they’re still upset by how the media (and Timberlake) have mistreated her all of these years.

Janet Jackson’s fans quickly came to her defense, and showed her nothing but love and support (and they showed Justin Timberlake…well, some other feelings). So, here are some of the best reactions from the Janet Jackson documentary:

In conclusion: Justin Timberlake is certified trash, and we’re glad Janet is [finally] getting her flowers after all of these years 💐.
