Jared Kushner graces the cover of this week’s Time magazine – but his rigid posture quickly became the source of ridicule on social media.

The presidential adviser was eviscerated on Twitter as trolls liken his pose and appearance to that of a Sims character and Slender Man.

Donald Trump’s son-in-law appears in the January 27 issue, where he talks about his struggles in the daunting role he plays in the White House.

But for many people on social media, Kushner’s appearance and posture was ghastly and reminded them of various things from popular culture.

‘Jared looking like a sim,’ shared Buzzfeed’s Julia Reinstein.

The sentiment about how strange Kushner looked was shared by Rob Joyce, who declared: ‘Jared Kushner’s TIME cover is what happens when you’re asked to customise your video game avatar and just select ‘default settings’ instead.’

Kushner was even said to resemble Pinnochio, with a user suggesting that his father is Geppetto the clock maker.

‘How’d they manage to make him look so lifelike? Amazing,’ offered Asher Wolf.

In his Time interview, the 39-year-old expressed his excitement over the White House lore – his office contains a plastered over door that was used by Monica Lewinsky when she visited Bill Clinton – but was forthright in discussing how difficult the role has been for him.

‘I had some bumpy patches along the way. I got here, and obviously at the beginning, there’s a lot I needed to learn,’ he said. ‘I didn’t know all the files that well. I didn’t know which files were my responsibility, which files were other people’s responsibility. I didn’t necessarily know what it took to be successful.’

Kushner, who registered as a Republican for the first time in 2018, also shared that he hardly shares his political opinions in public, expressing concern with others in Trump’s inner circle.

‘It’s very rare that I’ll give my opinion to the President in front of other people,’ he explained. ‘I have my personal opinions and my personal sympathies, but I work for the President of the United States. And my job is to, when he asks my advice on things, give him my advice. But then when the President makes a decision, my job is to help him execute that decision.’
