Jessica Rowe appeared on Channel Seven’s The Morning Show on Thursday to give an interview about her daughter Allegra Overton, 13, starting to high school.

The media personality, 49, discussed the experience, likening it to an ’emotional rollercoaster’.

‘Seeing these pictures, it makes me feel teary again,’ she said after a handful of photos of her and Allegra were played on screen.

‘I remember being a teenage girl and I want to help her, protector, let her go a little bit and I think sending her off to high school, it is that next stage,’ she continued.

‘Being a mother, being a parent is a series of letting go and you don’t realise when they are so small you keep them so close, it was hard.’  

This isn’t the first time that Jessica has publicly opened up about Allegra’s first day at school.

Last month, the self-described ‘crap housewife’ posted a crying selfie to Instagram and shared a moving message to her ‘fellow parents’. 

‘Thinking of all you fellow parents who’ve dropped your babies to high school for the first time,’ Jessica wrote.

‘I managed to keep my brave face on until I got back to the car for floods of tears.’

The mother-of-two gave advice for other women struggling with their children’s first day.   

‘Being a mum is a series of letting goes, but still wanting to hold tight! We’ve got this,’ she wrote.

The former television presenter shares two children with her Nine newsreader husband Peter Overton –  Allegra, 13 and Giselle, ten. 

Jessica is best known for her co-hosting role on Studio 10, which she stepped down from in March 2018 to spend more time with her family. 

Taking to Twitter in 2018, Peter applauded his wife-of-14-years for her ‘courageous’ decision to leave the program.

‘To make a decision to leave a job you love takes courage,’ he said. 

‘Jess and I have had some long talks about this and the bottom line is our little girls need their mum.’ 

Jessica is also an ambassador and spokesperson for mental heath organisation Beyond Blue.
