Kéllé Bryan cries at heart-wrenching video from when lupus robbed her of speech

Loose Women star Kéllé Bryan shared a harrowing clip from the start of her lupus battle where she could not speak.

The Hollyoaks actress, 45, fought back tears as she watched the 2016 video where she stammered heavily and her speech was slurred.

She revealed she now manages the condition with regular chemotherapy treatment that allows her to live a mostly normal life.

Kéllé’s co star Denise Welch burst into tears watching the shocking footage on the screen and viewers were also emotional.

Kéllé said she was receiving chemotherapy every six months

Speaking about her last round of chemotherapy, Kéllé explained: “It was actually last week, Friday, I had my last truxima infusion.

“I have one every six months, which keeps my disease under control and enables me to live a practically normal life.

“Which I am really grateful, because I am in a position where I can live a pretty much normal life.

“But obviously where I have come from since 2016 is a massive long journey.”

Kéllé battled to get her words out in the heartbreaking video

Andrea McLean said: “People see you here now, you look like there is nothing wrong with you, let’s look at you in 2016.”

They then played two clips from where Kéllé battled with her speech, the first was of her explaining on Loose Women that her condition was stress-related and that she had a seizure, and in the second video speaking into a camera but struggling terribly.

Kéllé said she wanted to raise awareness for her condition so that other people did not have to suffer like she did.

The Loose Women panelists and viewers were shocked to see how bad Kéllé’s condition was

“I never watch it because I find it too painful to put myself back in that situation, but that was me and those are the effects of lupus,” she said.

“But the reason I talk about it is because there isn’t an awareness of lupus like there is with cancer and other diseases, which is why I am willing to use my story to help other people to understand the effects of the disease.”

Viewers were equally moved by the video as one tweeted: “That even choked me a bit because all I see is a confident and lovely woman…

@kellebryan is honestly so lovely, every time I’ve been at #Hollyoaks she goes out of her way to say hello to everyone, honestly lovely. #LooseWomen “.

“Thank you @kellebryan for opening up, you are going to help so many people who are going through the same thing by sharing your story #LooseWomen ” added another.

A third remarked: “That was interesting hearing Kelle talk about Lupus, I don’t really know much about it. #LooseWomen “.

* Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12:30pm
