Lady Colin Campbell accuses Phillip Schofield of 'living a lie' before coming out as gay

Lady Colin Campbell has accused Phillip Schofield of ‘living a lie’ before he came out as gay.

In the latest development from the pair’s ongoing feud, the author, 70, said she ‘didn’t admire’ the presenter for keeping his sexuality a secret for so many years.

It comes just days after Lady Colin also accused Phillip of ‘shoving her’ while they attended the same awards show several years ago, following their heated This Morning exchange last week.

Lady Colin was asked about her feelings towards Phillip during an appearance on FUBAR Radio’s Access All Areas to promote her new book about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The cutthroat star sarcastically said: ‘Who? Is that something to eat, drink or flush?’

Reminded that she and Phil engaged in a heated debate during her recent This Morning appearance, she added: ‘Oh, no, it got tetchy from the very beginning if I recall correctly.

‘He attacked me and thought he was going to ambush me and that I would end up looking like a fool and he’s the one who ended up looking like the fool that he is.’

Lady Colin Campbell went onto allude to Phillip’s decision to publicly come out as gay in February, saying: ‘What do I think of him? Well let me put it this way. All I can say is anybody who’s spent most of his life living a lie is not somebody I admire.’

She brutally added: ‘If he wanted to lead his life privately and as a liar, that’s perfectly okay. But then don’t set yourself up as some arbiter of the truth when you’re the absolute opposite!’

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Phillip Schofield for comment.

It comes just days after Lady Colin also accused Phillip of ‘shoving her’ when they were both attending an ITV awards event, backing up the same accusation which had been made by her son Dima Ziadie.

She told The Mirror she recalled Phil trying to knock her over while they attended an ITV awards event, saying: ‘ I was in a walkway, and Philip Schofield bounced into me, shoved me, trying to knock me down, obviously so I would look ridiculous or think I was drunk or some such thing.

‘I said to him ”excuse me!” but I didn’t know who it was until he’d walked past.’

The Celebs Go Dating star also appeared to make a thinly-veiled dig at the presenter for ‘not having any respect for the truth’, which seemingly caused him to refer to his recent gay revelation as he hit back: ‘I think you’ll find I’ve done that myself!’

Sharing his thoughts, Dancing On Ice’s Phillip labelled the socialite’s book ‘tawdry and undignified’, explaining: ‘I’d be surprised any of the royals would want to get involved with more gossip after your Princess Diana book.’

‘This seems to be a debate about whether people should stand up and be honest or whether people should slink in the shadows and pretend. You can’t have mental health if you can’t tell the truth.’

‘I don’t understand’, a confused Holly Willoughby admitted, before the interviewee said: ‘You should understand.’
