‘I was drunk’: Married At First Sight’s Hayley Vernon blames booze for trying to grope her ‘husband’ David Cannon at the dinner party… which left him with a SCRATCH on his face
Married At First Sight star Hayley Vernon has blamed booze for her poor behaviour towards her ‘husband’ David Cannon during Wednesday night’s dinner party.
Speaking to KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Thursday, the 32-year-old responded to outrage after she forced herself on the truck driver.
Hayley acknowledged that if she were a man she would have been much more vilified, before excusing herself as she was intoxicated.

‘What you’ve got to understand that this is at the end of the night, we’re all a little bit drunk and the producers have shoved me in a room with David,’ she said.
‘I don’t know whether I’m coming or going, I’ve got a camera on me, I’m just like ready set go. Then I’m like ”what’s happening?” but it is what it is,’ she added.
In arguably the most controversial moment during the dinner party, Hayley scratched David while attempting to kiss him.
Claws: Hayley scratched ‘husband’ David Cannon while attempting to kiss and grope him at the show’s first dinner party
The brunette bodybuilder admitted during the evening that she wanted to make it work with her husband after their honeymoon from hell.
‘Give me a kiss, give me,’ Hayley purred as David leaned in to give her a peck.
‘Why are you trying to give me kisses now?’ he asked. ‘No, not tonight darling, not tonight.’
Under attack: The brunette bodybuilder then took David to a private area to try and make amends after their honeymoon from hell
‘I know I’m being cold right now,’ David continued. ‘You’ve just gotta give me some time.’
Despite his reluctance, Hayley continued to be physical with David, grabbing him repeatedly and pulling his head down towards her.
She then begged David to pick her up and carry her back to the dinner table, before grabbing at his face and forcefully planting a kiss on him.
Upset: ‘Can you see the scratch on my face? She was pulling at my face trying to make out with me,’ he said, clearly in shock
‘Ow, don’t!’ said David as he flinched in pain. ‘Don’t, you hurt me, come on.’
David later told some of the other grooms how his wife had scratched him.
Married At First Sight returns Sunday at 7pm on Channel Nine.
Bad to worse! Hayley and David (pictured) have already clashed a number of times on the show, with it clear the couple are no longer together
