Mass brawl at a Brisbane park leaves at least one person dead and 'multiple' more injured

A person is dead after being wounded during a mass brawl involving two groups of people at a park in Brisbane’s north.

Police have confirmed one death and multiple injuries resulted from the altercation on Sunday afternoon at O’Callaghan Park in Zillmere.

Police and paramedics were called to the park on the corner of Jennings St and Zillmere Rd around 5.35pm on Sunday.

It is understood the fight involved stabbing weapons and a number of young Sudanese men in their early 20s, the Courier Mail reports.

It’s believed one of the groups was sitting in the park when the other group arrived and the altercation was sparked.

Some of the people involved are believed to have fled the scene when police arrived.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman confirmed multiple patients had been transported to hospital and a crime scene had been established.

More to come.
