Matt Le Nevez reveals he and his family are moving back to Australia

US-based Australian actor Matt Le Nevez, 41, has announced his plans to relocate himself, his partner and their young children back to Australia by the end of the year. 

In an interview published by The Sunday Telegraph, the former Offspring star said America’s current political unrest and the spread of COVID-19 has ‘really magnified the longing for home.’     

‘Now, raising two kids in LA, under the current climate, we’re definitely thinking about moving back at the end of the year,’ Matt said.

Matt and his American-born partner Michelle have two children: Levi, six, and Wren, three.

The actor moved the the country more than a decade ago.  

Matt said he’d move back Down Under even sooner if it weren’t for the fact that his family had recently purchased a dog.

‘I’d like to do it sooner, but we’ve just got a dog, so there’s quarantine to think about,’ he explained. 

The actor is best known for his role on the Australian series Offspring as Patrick Reid, but will soon be seen in season three of the Amazon thriller, Absentia. 

The actor plays Navy Seal turned special FBI agent Cal Isaac, and will star opposite Castle’s Stana Katic.

A truly international production, Matt explained that Absentia’s crew and cast came from across the globe, including people from South Africa, Israel, Poland, Bulgaria and Croatia.   

Matt is known to keep his family life extremely private. 

Speaking to TV Week about his thoughts of social media last year, he said: ‘Some people like to show them off to the world.’

‘But they’re my kids and it’s not their choice to be on social media. Maybe I’m too serious about it all, but they are very special little children.’  

The actor has had a successful career both in Australia and internationally. He gained a cult following as the love interest of Asher Keddie in Offspring. 

He also appeared in sci-fi series The Kettering incident, playing the role of Detective Brian Dutch.   

Absentia will stream on Amazon Prime video with season three dropping on July 17.
