Meghan Markle wears £269 Massimo Dutti coat to Mayhew

Hard-working wardrobe! Meghan wore her £269 navy Massimo Dutti coat to Mayhew AND the National Theatre on a day of whirlwind visits to her patronages before jetting off to Canada

  • Sussex Royal account shared Instagram photo from Meghan’s private charity trip
  • Duchess, 38, wore a £269 navy Massimo Dutti coat over a crisp blue shirt
  • It’s the same outfit she wore on a visit to the National Theatre on 8 January

The Duchess of Sussex looked polished in a shirt and navy coat on her visit to an animal rescue centre two weeks ago, new photos released today reveal.

Meghan Markle, 38, wore a £269 navy Massimo Dutti coat when she ‘popped in’ to London’s Mayhew animal welfare charity, of which she is patron, shortly before she and Prince Harry, 35, announced they were stepping down as senior royals.

Meghan wore the same chic navy wool coat draped over her shoulders as she left the National Theatre, another of her patronages, following a private visit on 8 January – making it likely that both visits took place on the same day.

A photo of the Duchess arriving at Mayhew, shared this morning on the Sussex Royal Instagram account, shows Meghan with her navy coat tied tightly around her waist.

The arms of the coat are pushed up, suggesting the Duchess, known for her love of dogs, was ready to get her hands dirty with the animals.

Only the slightest glimpse of her shirt can be seen underneath but it appears to be the same tailored pale blue one she wore to the National Theatre.

It is not known where the shirt is from but Meghan has previously bought tailored separate from British brand With Nothing Underneath and Misha Nonoo.

The royal also wore a pair of wide leg navy trousers.

The Duchess finished the ensemble with a pendant necklace and a slim gold bangle.

In another sign of how comfortable she feels at Mayhew, Meghan wore her brunette locks relaxed around her shoulders – they were swept up into an updo at the National Theatre – and scooped her hair behind her collar when she was meeting the dogs.

The caption shared with the Mayhew photos reads: ‘Earlier this month, The Duchess of Sussex popped in to see the amazing people at Mayhew to hear about the incredible progress made throughout the festive period.

‘The Duchess of Sussex, having been proud patron of Mayhew since January 2019 and long understanding the connection between animal and community welfare, applauds the people at Mayhew for the vital work that they do every day.

‘From cats and dogs who have found new homes to animal welfare cases handled in the community – @TheMayhew believes in the power of togetherness and the special bond between humans and animals.’

Meghan’s visits to the National Theatre and Mayhew were her last official outings in the UK before she jetted back to Canada to be with Archie.

Harry remained in the UK to thrash out the conditions of their new roles but flew out on Monday night to reunite with his wife and son at their Vancouver Island bolthole.

In their new roles, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will no longer represent the Queen but will be able to continue their private patronages and associations.
