Mendy to Chelsea ‘100% done’ but Blues’ not done in transfer market yet

Chelsea’s move for Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is ‘100 per cent done’ but their transfer business will not end there.

Frank Lampard has been pursuing a new goalkeeper to provide competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Lampard dropped the Spaniard for several games last season in favour of veteran Willy Caballero.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Ramano claims Mendy is on his way to Stamford Bridge and Chelsea will then move swiftly on to their next target.

Romano wrote on Twitter: “Edouard Mendy will be in London in next few hours – the deal is 100% done. Chelsea will consider a move for Declan Rice on following days but won’t pay €80million.

“West Ham insist they don’t want to sell Rice. Match on. Bakayoko is not in Lampard plans.”

Rice is central to West Ham’s plans but their resolve is about to be tested

Stuart Pearce says West Ham will REJECT offers for Declan Rice… and could make Lionel Messi bid!

A new bid for Mendy was submitted on Friday and the deal has moved quickly after being accepted by Rennes’ president.

The fee is believed to be in the region of £20million and he will be competing with Kepa for a starting place rather than a straight replacement.

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Rice all summer and the Hammers are reluctant to sell their star player.

Rice was with the Blues as a youngster before being released and went on to flourish with West Ham’s academy and for the Hammers’ first team.
