Newcastle vs Manchester United highlights and reaction

Manchester United recorded a 4-1 win on their return to Premier League action on Tyneside, as Bruno Fernandes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford scored late on to clinch three much-needed points.

Solskjaer sprung a few surprises with his team selection at St. James’ Park, with Scott McTominay and Fred surprise starters, Paul Pogba benched and Mason Greenwood not in the matchday squad.

Many fans were hopeful of seeing Donny van de Beek and Alex Telles handed their first league starts for the club and Luke Shaw’s second-minute own-goal did nothing to abate the frustration of supporters.

United responded well but were initially denied an equaliser when a Fernandes strike was ruled out for offside. Maguire equalised soon after and the scores were level at the break.

Fernandes missed a penalty for United after the break but atoned for it with the clincher, before Wan-Bissaka and Rashford put the icing on the cake
