Alison Hammond has Holly and Phil in hysterics during This Morning cookery segment

There have been tears of happiness and tears of utter hysterics on This Morning today (31 March).

And trust Alison Hammond to be putting big smiles on our face and making us guffaw with laughter during these challenging times – even when we’re least expecting it.

The much-loved TV star was making chocolate brownies during the show’s cookery segment ahead of her appearance on The Great Celebrity Bake Off tonight, and had hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield in hysterics when her mixture suddenly went very dry and her spoon became stuck in the mixture.

Not realising she’d missed a vital ingredient, Alison said, perplexed: “It’s a little bit dry. It’s not normally. It keeps getting stuck.”

Holly and Phil noticed her error and dissolved into laughter, with Holly asking whether she had remembered eggs.

It can happen to the best of us, Alison.

“I still feel like you’re doing this in your kitchen and you’re pretending to be on TV,” Holly laughed.
