Nicola Sturgeon daily briefing RECAP: New phase 2 dates announced today

Nicola Sturgeon held a virtual coronavirus briefing at 12.30pm today, with interim chief medical officer Dr Gregor Smith and national clinical director Jason Leitch.

The First Minister made a series of announcements, including more phase two opening dates, new rules for children during lockdown and announced that some businesses will be allowed to relax the one metre distancing rule. She also revealed that there has been a localised outbreak of COVID-19 near the Scottish borden in Annan and Gretna.

She tweeted earlier: “There will be lots of important information in my daily @scotgov #COVIDー19 update later – so if you can, please tune in.”

Earlier today, the UK Government indicated plans to announce countries which will be exempt from quarantine restrictions have been delayed by Sturgeon.

People arriving in the UK – including returning Britons – are currently required to self-isolate for a fortnight to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

The UK Government is expected to announce a list of countries which will be exempt from the restrictions this week, but so far details have not been published.
