Nicola Sturgeon virus update as First Minister to announce latest review

Nicola Sturgeon put a cap on social gatherings in her review of lockdown restrictions in Scotland today as cases of coronavirus continue to rise.

The First Minister imposed a cap of six on meetings indoor and outside.

The latest figures for the past 24 hours show another 161 positive Covid-19 cases in Scotland.

Sturgeon had warned she would take a cautious approach, and delivered some tough new restrictions during First Minister’s Questions at Holyrood.

It comes as Scotland’s contact tracing app goes live across the country.

The government said Protect Scotland will support the Test and Protect system and is “another tool in the fight against Covid-19”.

The app can be downloaded free from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
