The NYPD bomb squad was called to Queens Tuesday night after reports that ‘serious bomb making materials’ were discovered by a property just hours after a house fire began at the same location.
According to ABC 7 NY, a suspicious package was found at a two-story building on 19th Street in Astoria just before 8 pm.
Pix11 reported that one man was taken into custody. He was shown shirtless being taken away by cops after being found hiding behind the home.
Nearby buildings are being evacuated and fire officials are on standby.

The NYPD 114th precinct asked everyone to avoid Astoria Park and the surrounding streets.
Cops are questioning people connected to the house, NY1 reported.
At the house fire Tuesday afternoon, two units and 60 firefighters responded to the scene. The fire was placed under control by 2pm.
ABC News reported one injury in the earlier fire. The person was taken to Cornell Medical Center.
The owner of the home told Pix11 that the FDNY pulled a black crate into the front yard of the building as they had fought back the blaze.
The owner then called the FBI after fuses and powder were found inside.
