Pitt to Launch In-Venue Second-Screen Football Experience Saturday – Pitt Panthers #H2P

PITTSBURGH – Pitt will launch “Hail From Home Live”, a unique second-screen virtual experience utilizing On Location Live, to bring fans into Heinz Field, Saturday, Sept. 12 to compliment the broadcast of its season opening football game against Austin Peay (4 p.m. – ACCN). Former Pitt standout and six-year NFL vet Dorin Dickerson along with Casey Garrow from Pitt Studios will provide viewers with an in-depth game preview, key matchups, in-game analysis and an in-venue perspective of all the action from Heinz Field.

Dickerson and Garrow will breakdown Pitt’s matchup with Austin Peay as well as tie into the Pitt Radio Network pregame show on 93.7 The Fan. The radio broadcast featuring Jeff Hathhorn, Pat Bostick and Larry Richert will play during live action with Dickerson and Garrow returning during commercial breaks to provide analysis and insight on the game from the South Plaza at Heinz Field. Postgame interviews and reactions will also be available through the “Hail From Home Live” second-screen experience.
Dickerson, a first team All-America selection in 2009, annually provides his expertise on college and pro football on 93.7 The Fan throughout the year. He has also hosted a weekend show on The Fan and been a frequent Panthers Pregame contributor. Garrow, a member of the Pitt Athletics department since 2013, is one of the producers for the Athletic Departments’ Emmy and Telly award-winning television show “Pitt: Beyond the Script” on AT&T Sports Net. Garrow also oversees the post-production freelance staff and student interns who help produce daily content for each sport, creates video content for videoboards, marketing, social media, and broadcasts and serves as an on-camera host for Pitt Athletics and as a sideline reporter for the ACC Network.
The second-screen experience will also feature popular video board features such as the team’s intro video, A Football Town, Pitt Moms, and more, along with social media fan contests and special guest appearances.
Pitt opens the season with four consecutive home games beginning with Austin Peay. The Panthers open conference play the following week against Syracuse at Heinz Field with a noon kickoff also airing on ACCN.
The remainder of the schedule includes home games against Louisville (Sept. 26), NC State (Oct. 3), Notre Dame (Oct. 24) and Virginia Tech (Nov. 21) along with road contests at Boston College (Oct. 10), Miami (Oct. 17), Florida State (Nov. 7), Georgia Tech (Nov. 14) and Clemson (Nov. 28).
The University of Pittsburgh was recently informed that fans will not be able to attend the Panthers’ games at Heinz Field during the month of September.
