Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shocked the world last week with their decision to quit public life and become financially independent.

And on Wednesday, celebrity publicist Max Markson revealed the staggering amount the Duke and Duchess of Sussex can now earn.

‘And if Harry could do some gigs, he’ll be earning the same money,’ he insisted.

Max – a Sydney-based publicist – went on to say that he would give the pair ‘$5million straight away just to come down and do five gigs around Australia.’

He explained: ‘Ed Sheeran pulled about $50million out of the market doing a load of gigs so they could probably do a load of events all over the country.’

Max also said that they can sign a deal with Netflix, as ‘that’s where the money is and they’ve got a global brand and a global image so they can make money there.’

The celebrity publicist also revealed that the pair could make extra money by writing an autobiography.

‘They’ll make more than $64million,’ he claimed. ‘They can write their own pay cheque because they are Harry and Meghan. The world is literally their oyster.’

Last week, the Sussexes announced their plans to ‘step back as “senior” members of the Royal Family’ in a statement on their official Instagram account.

They wrote: ‘After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution.’

‘We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.’

The pair said they would split their time between the UK and North America.

‘We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages,’ they said.

‘This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.’

They finished: ‘We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support.’
