Rebekah Vardy wants to ‘clear her name’ over Coleen Rooney row

Rebekah Vardy has spoken out about the “need” to clear her name over her spat with Coleen Rooney.

Rebekah, who is the wife of Leicester City star Jamie Vardy, appeared on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday to discuss appearing on Dancing On Ice. But controversial host Piers could not resist asking her about the spat.

Coleen, wife of former Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney, and Rebekah fell out after Coleen pointed the finger at her fellow WAG for allegedly selling fake stories about her to newspapers. It erupted into a public Twitter row late last year. Rebekah has always strenuously denied the claims.

And after the issue failed to be sorted out, the pair are now preparing to face each other in court in a libel case after Rebekah’s lawyers filed papers at the High Court.

On Good Morning Britain, after announcing the “entertainment exclusive” about Dancing On Ice, Piers was eager to touch on the row.

“Now I know that there’s something that we can’t talk about but everyone else is talking about,” he said. “So the thing that we can’t talk about, is there anything you can say about it?

“You’re so predictable,” Rebekah said. “I just knew that was going to come up.

“Look, we tried to sort things out amicably. It just didn’t work. I understand people think it’s ridiculous but what was I meant to do? I needed to clear my name, I want to clear my name and I will do whatever that takes.

“And I hope that it is going to be resolved soon. It’s just one of the things that has to go through the process, unfortunately.”

Piers asked: “How tough have you found it personally?

“I find it really tough but to be fair Piers, in comparison to what some people have gone through with Covid and things like that, it’s incomparable,” Rebekah said.

“I agree,” Piers added.

It came after the WAG discussed her Dancing On Ice Appearance with Piers and Susanna from her car on the school run.

Describing her a a “big bombshell revelation” and “somebody you’d least expect to be putting on the skates” Piers asked: “What on earth has possessed you to put on a pair of skates and expose your ice dancing talent to the world?”

“I just think I want everyone to laugh at me really,” Rebekah said.

“My dad taught me how to stand up on a pair of skates when I was about seven years old. We used to go skating a lot. After my mum and dad split up, we used to go and stay with him for the weekend and he used to take us to the local ice rink. So it’s a really fun family thing for us to have done together. I’m really excited actually.”

Myleene Klass, Coronation Street’s Faye Brooks, Jason Donovan and Denise Van Outen are among the other celebrities to sign up for Dancing On Ice.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
