Simon Gregson tries to end unlikely feud with Liam Gallagher

Simon Gregson has tried to put to bed his unlikely decades-long feud with Liam Gallagher by offering to take the singer for a pint.

The Coronation Street star, 45, took to Twitter to try and make amends with the Oasis frontman after they fell out when the actor allegedly ‘flipped him the bird’.

On Sunday, Liam, 47, tweeted: ‘What you gonna do with the rest of your life’, and Simon offered an olive branch by replying ‘take you for a pint.’

Although Liam is yet to reply to Simon’s offer, their fans went wild at the idea of the duo meeting at the pub to quash their long-running row.

One person said: ‘That’s company I’d love to be in. When and where?’

While another replied saying: ‘Forgiven him for the incident at Granada studios all those years ago. A fine piece of method acting from Mr @simongregson123.’

A third quipped: ‘Only if you’re playing Steve McDonald and we can watch it. #tvgold’

A different person wrote: ‘Imagine that @liamgallagher turning up at the rovers to have a pint with Steve McDonald [laughing face emojis]’

It comes after Liam revealed that he and Simon almost came to blows after the actor allegedly made an obscene gesture at the rocker.

The musician revealed that after Oasis recorded a performance at Granada TV studios, Simon – who plays lothario Steve McDonald on the soap – drove by and ‘flipped the bird’ at him, before Liam gave chase and tried to fight him,

He told The Sun: ‘We performed Take Me at Granada TV Studios. After we did it, we thought we were amazing and we thought we’d go for a pint…

‘And the guy who is in Coronation Street, Steve McDonald, I was walking down the road with my jacket on and he’s come out and he’s staring at me and I’m staring at him and he’s giving me looks back and I’ve gone, ‘What you f**ing looking at?’

‘And he’s wound down his window and flipped the bird at me and then I’ve chased him down the road. And he wound his window up and drove off and I kept catching him at lights.

‘He was coming out of the Granada TV studios where they’d been doing Corrie and we had just been making our TV debut with ‘Take Me’ and he f**ing flipped me the bird. Can you believe that?’

Liam’s revelation comes after he urged his estranged brother Noel to make friends and reunite Oasis, telling him to ‘get off the naughty step and stop sulking.’

The musician had been talking to Peter Crouch, Maya Jama and Alex Horne for an episode of Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer, which aired last Saturday.

Peter said to Liam: ‘So what about your brother, are you ever gonna make up?’

Liam replied: ‘I’m ready to go man, love is in the air.’

Maya said: ‘Didn’t you do a tweet actually, saying about doing a performance for the NHS…’

Liam replied: ‘Yeah. I know he’s not gonna do it. So I do it to make him look f*****g as bad as…. But I’ll do it.

‘I think it’s time now man to get off the naughty step and stop sulking.’

Maya said: ‘It would be amazing if you two got back together’ and he replied: ‘It would be. Don’t know how long it would last and that but…’

Oasis fan Peter added: ‘Is Oasis, I mean – is there a chance…?’

Liam said: ‘I don’t know, you’d have to ask him mate. I told you my bags are packed. I’m ready to go man but … I think he’s uh…I don’t know what going on in his world.

‘I just wanna keep making good music – singing those Oasis songs, waiting for the little fella to come in with a box of chocolates and apologise.’

Liam also discussed accidentally setting his brother’s house on fire once.

Maya asked him if he went to Ibiza much when he was younger and he said: ‘Yeah, our kid had a house there once, years ago, which I nearly set fire to cause they lent it me.

‘Yeah man, so I get there, I’m getting a bit giddy and I’ve gone, “this is nuts innit”, got the drinks out, got a cig out, and it was like right on the sea, and I lit up and then I flicked it, it’s gone down the cliff…and the next minute there’s loads of fire. ‘We’ve not even unpacked our bags so I’m there running out with loads of pots and pans just launching at it because you couldn’t go down to it, I’d only been there about 10 minutes…’
