Maggie Rogers is calling out men who verbally harassed her while on stage for a performance.

The 25-year-old singer-songwriter took to social media Sunday to share the experience of two men calling for her to ‘take her top off’ while she was performing in Austin, Texas, Saturday.

‘Every night before the ‘alaska’ acoustic encore, i speak about gratitude and growth and change. it’s the most vulnerable part of the set. just me and a guitar before i say goodnight,’ Rogers wrote in her post. ‘Last night, in the middle of this speech a man yelled ‘take your top off.’ another joined in and yelled ‘you cute though.’

‘I was stunned. Furious. Fuming. Confused. And also – on a really basic level – it really hurt my feelings,’ she wrote.

The singer went on to highlight the ‘safe space’ she and her fans create at her shows.

We create a safe space to amplify each other. To allow relief. To allow release. There’s a deep amount of trust there,’ Rogers wrote.

‘I step on stage every night with a deep reverence for the stage, my craft, and the privilege that is making music for my job. I’ve been writing and producing music for 10 years – my body is my greatest tool for communicating that work.’

This isn’t the first time Rogers has called out people in the audience for being inappropriate.

During a concert in Australia in May, Rogers politely asked the crowd not to whistle or scream during one of her solos, saying: ‘If you have to have to yell something, or whistle – you know who I’m looking at – um, just wait ’til after, ‘coz that’s rude.’

The crowd applauded – but for one person, who took the opportunity to whistle.

The singer was quick to respond, declaring: ‘Still rude. They consider it sexual harassment in some countries.’

A week earlier, The Project’s Tommy Little was slammed by fans on social media after he asked the singer a very inappropriate question.

Rogers appeared on the Channel 10 program to promote her new album Heard It in a Past Life and subsequent Australian tour.

However, instead of talking about her career achievements and hit singles, the 34-year-old chose to focus on the moment Rogers met Pharrell Williams back in 2016.

Rogers came to worldwide recognition after a video emerged of her playing a demo of her song Alaska to Pharrell, 46, during a masterclass at New York University.

‘Did he smell good? Because I reckon he looks like he’d smell amazing,’ Tommy asked.

A confused Rogers is seen wincing before saying that she didn’t get close enough to get a whiff.

Comments from her fans came in thick and fast, with many slamming Tommy and The Project for their total disregard to her talent.

‘Can you believe releasing an album and touring it around the world and then journalists want to ask you about a man you met three years ago in college?’ one fan wrote.

‘She has toured the world and produced an incredible album. Let’s focus on that!!! That interview was totally disrespectful and she handled herself very well,’ another raged. ‘I’m so embarrassed by Australia right now,’ another wrote.
