‘When it had the green light, all we did was we turned around and heard people screaming. When we turned around, there was a dead body,’ said one woman who identified herself only as ‘Mimi’, reported KCAL.

Padilla was later identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

The bus driver, who was not identified, was pulled over by a sheriff’s deputy in South El Monte about a half hour later, The Mercury News reported.

El Monte is about 10 miles west of East LA.

‘Upon inspection of the bus, it was determined to be a match to the suspect vehicle,’ the highway patrol said in a statement.

‘It was determined a hit-and-run collision did not occur,’ the agency said.

A Gofundme page was created to raise funds for the family of a man who passed away by the same name.

‘Financial assistance will not make it any easier for us to bear this loss, but any support will be greatly appreciated in assisting Peter’s family,’ organizers wrote on the page.

The organizers of the online fundraiser were not immediately available when DailyMail.com reached for confirmation Monday.
