Sophia Bush calls out Instagram account that has been impersonating her

Sophia Bush called out a private Instagram account that had allegedly been tricking fans into believing they were communicating with her.

The actress, 37, claimed the catfishing resulted in one woman breaking her sobriety after the account stopped communicating with her.

Sophia shamed the account owner and promised to work with authorities to catch them.

Sophia does not have any private accounts, and was outraged to learn someone had been using her celebrity to allegedly mislead fans into communicating with them.

‘@sophia_bush_pr_i_vate is NOT my account,’ Sophia announced on her Instagram stories on Wednesday. ‘I DO NOT HAVE PRIVATE ACCOUNTS. And I will not communicate with any of y’all in private DMs from private accounts. Ever. Nor have I EVER done so.’

In the following story, she took a screenshot of a message from the private account thanking the fan for their ‘love and support.’

‘Hi! It’s Sophia Bush. This is my private account, thanks for your love and support. Thanks for being such a great fan, I love you,’ read the message.

The account blocked Sophia once she called them out, and the actress urged her fans to report them to Instagram.

‘This a**hole blocked me so I can’t tag her. Please report this account,’ she implored.

Sophia then went into detail about the woman who believed she had an actual ‘relationship’ with the actress, after communicating with the catfisher on Instagram for several months.

Once the communication stopped, however, the woman broke her sobriety.

‘I was just made aware that a girl spent months communicating with one of these accounts and genuinely thought she had a “relationship” with “me.” When that account was banned, and whoever was impersonating me stopped communicating with this woman, she broke her years-long sobriety. Her SOBRIETY!!! Her life is endangered because some a**hole online gets their rocks off this way.’

‘THIS IS AWFUL. This is HEARTBREAKING to me. And whoever is doing this to people?? I will work with the proper authorities to catch you. You should be banned from social channels. SHAME ON YOU.’
