South Australia Adelaide food delivery driver steals a pair of sneakers from outside a front door

A food delivery rider has been caught stealing a pair of shoes left on a front porch in bizarre CCTV footage.

The victim was Adelaide man Taraz Fatehi, who took off his shoes and left them outside while visiting a friend’s house for dinner in Kidman Park in the city’s western suburbs on Saturday night.

‘At about 11pm we all got up to go home, but once I got outside my shoes weren’t there,’ Mr Fatehi told 7News

‘I thought one of the kids was playing a prank.’

Mr Fatehi and his friend watched the security footage and discovered that the sneakers had been stolen by a food delivery rider.

In the footage, a man with a food delivery bag like those used by Uber Eats or Deliveroo walked across the lawn and approached the shoes on the porch.

He then picked up the shoes and examined them before casually walking away.

Mr Fatehi said he spent a lot of money on the ‘nice shoes’ and believes the food delivery thief could strike again.

‘He knew what he was looking for,’ Mr Fatehi said.

He warned others to be cautious about what they leave outside as an opportunistic thief could be waiting to take it.

A SA Police spokesman said: ‘The matter has not been reported to police yet.

‘We encourage anyone with information, or who may have been a victim of similar offending to contact police.’
