Steve Bruce reacts to Newcastle United win

Joe has always, always worked his socks off. He’s got to dust himself down and get on with it.

Steve Bruce on Ryan Fraser

Liam Kennedy’s GOOD DAY/BAD DAY

Steve Bruce I suppose. He made 10 changes to the side and still oversaw progression to round three – even he’ll admit it was an awful watch mind. Ryan Fraser and Miguel Almiron were plus points, so too the performance of Mark Gillespie between the sticks – very assured.

Joelinton, Joelinton and Joelinton. Nah, it wasn’t really a grab the opportunity by the scruff of the neck performance by Sean Longstaff or Dan Barlaser either.

And that’s that – NUFC certainly didn’t make it easy for themselves!

Joelintooooo… No! As you were.

FAN PANEL: Thoughts on the hour from the lads

RICHY STOREY: “2 great saves from Gillespie keep United in front. Commentator says Blackburn missing a striker. Sorry but had to laugh!! Joelinton falling over when he seems to have won the 1 on 1 and just the GK to beat sums the lad up.

DAN FOX: “I’d bring asm on for joelinton. He’s shown absolutely nothing. It’s been a game from last season. Nothing to really get you off your seat.”

JAIME HOPKINS: “Blackburn have dominated the second half and will be hoping Armstrong can get them back into the game.”

Ryan Fraser’s night is done

No changes for the Magpies at the break as they lead despite being on the back foot for much of the opening 45.
