Thandie admits she was scared of working with Tom Cruise after Scientology bid

Tom Cruise ‘s co-star Thandie Newton has opened up on why she was “so scared” to work with the Hollywood actor.

The British actress, 47, made the savage claims about her Mission: Impossible co-star as she spoke about her initial thoughts of working with him on the second film.

Thandie shared that he tried to convert her to Scientology as she recalled working with him on the 2000 hit.

She told The Sun : “I was so scared of Tom. He was a very dominant individual.

“He tries super hard to be a nice person. But the pressure. He takes on a lot. And I think he has this sense that only he can do everything as best as it can be done.”

Thandie also explained Tom, 58, pushed her “further into a place of terror and insecurity” when filming certain scenes, which she described as a “nightmare”.

She also claims Tom gave her a present to get her involved in Scientology.

“He was very generous and open about sharing Scientological stuff,” she continued.

“Christmas gifts would be something to do with Scientology, like a book with the greatest hits of Scientology, a bit like a Bible kind of thing.”

The hunky Top Gun star is so devoted to the controversial church that he was awarded the highest honour – the Freedom Medal of Valor in 2008.

“I was curious, because it’s like, ‘Wow, if it’s going to attract powerful, high-profile people, there’s got to be some glue that sticks this s**t together’. Didn’t find any.”

The Westworld actress warned she might further spill the secrets on other Hollywood stars.

She added: “I’ve got my little black book, which will be published on my deathbed.”

Asked if it includes names, Thandie added: “Oh, of everything. Got to leave something behind. I’m not doing it when I’m alive. I don’t want to deal with the fallout.”
