The Amazing Race: Gay newlyweds Rod and Tim reveal their personality clash with one ‘arrogant’ couple – as they praise the show’s diverse cast

The Amazing Race Australia is returning to TV screens later this month after five years off the air.

And NSW contestants Tim, 29, and Rod, 28, revealed on Tuesday it wasn’t exactly smooth sailing with their fellow competitors.

The gay newlyweds told The Daily Telegraph that while they bonded with most of the other teams, but there was one duo they butted heads with.

Rod said: ‘There was a bit of a personality clash with one of the teams, we just can’t stand cockiness and arrogance. That’s our pet hate.’ 

The couple explained that taking part in the show put their partnership to the test as they got to see each other’s ‘worst sides’. 

But they praised the diverse cast, adding that being an openly gay couple on television may help encourage other people to be themselves.

The teams on The Amazing Race include: ‘Bondi influencers’ Sid and Ash, NSW nurses Nick and Femi, and South Australian farmer Chris and his firefighter partner Adrienne.

The other participants include: Indigenous couple Jasmin and Jerome, brother-and-sister duo Alana and Niko, Queensland sisters Hayley and Mikayla, mother and daughter Rowah and Amani, ACT nuns Judy and Therese and footy mates Tom and Tyler.

The show, which is hosted by former NRL star Beau Ryan, will see all 11 teams racing across three continents in a bid to win the prize.

Along the way, they’ll face gruelling physical challenges and logistical problems as they travel across the world.

Beau, 34, is taking over the helm from Grant Bowler as host of The Amazing Race, which last aired in Australia in 2014 on Channel Seven.

The Amazing Race Australia premieres October 28 at 7.30pm on Channel 10
