They have remained firm friends since their starring roles in The Crown.

And Claire Foy and Matt Smith proved that they are still pals as they enjoyed a fun autumnal stroll together in London on Thursday.

The Girl in the Spider’s Web star, 35, put on a very giggly display as she shared several in-jokes with her former co-star, 36.

Claire cut a casual figure in a pair of frayed jeans with a pink jumper and a mauve coloured coat.

Adding some finishing touches, she opted for a pair of green trainers, a black crocodile print handbag and a pink neck scarf.

Claire appeared to go make-up free as she left her brunette locks loose into a relaxed hairdo.

Meanwhile Matt also cut a casual figure as he tried to keep a low profile in a pair of denim jeans and a black padded jacket.

The Doctor Who star finished his look with a black baseball cap, tortoise shell glasses and black trainers.

It is possible that Claire and Matt were on their way to rehearsals after it was revealed they will be starring in the play Lungs together later this month.

Recent snaps from rehearsals show the First Man actress and her co-star looking delighted as they transformed into the loving couple M and W earlier this month.

The pair were first seen together again when they attended the launch of the newly refurbished theatre earlier in that day.

Matt is in a long-term relationship with Downton Abbey star Lily James, 30. While Claire announced her split from her husband, actor Stephen Campbell Moore, 41, in February last year.

While Claire played the lead role in The Crown, winning a Golden Globe award for her performance, it emerged last year that she had been paid less than Matt.

Claire took on the role of the young Queen Elizabeth II, while Matt played her husband Prince Philip.

After finding out that he received £10,000 more per episode, she said she was upset and felt like she had become an ‘inadvertent spokesperson’ for woman in the gender pay gap row.

‘I was deeply hurt by it, because I’d been working on that show for two years. I loved everybody on it, and then I realised, there’s been a big, fat, dirty secret that nobody’s ever talked about,’ she told Porter magazine last year.

‘But there was also that thing [of being] an inadvertent spokesperson. Why did it have to be me? I could have said nothing. And I think everyone would have preferred that.’

Matt stuck up for his pal Claire amid the pay row and The Crown producers apologised to both of them for the furore.

Despite the wage disparity, it seems that the pair have maintained a strong friendship off screen.

Olivia Colman and Tobias Menzies, both 45, have taken over from the pair for the third series of the drama, which is set for release later this year.
