The Today show hosts rock ’80s-style mullets – as Allison Langdon tells sports reporter Alex Cullen his looks ‘very real’
The Today show hosts donned mullet wigs during a segment promoting a festival dedicated to the ’80s hairstyle on Friday.
In a lighthearted moment for the newly-assembled breakfast team, Allison Langdon poked fun at sports reporter Alex Cullen’s eerily realistic ‘do.
Karl Stefanovic even said he looked like Billy Ray Cyrus, who was known for rocking the regrettable hairstyle during his country music heyday in the early ’90s.

In response, Alex performed a cringeworthy rendition of Billy Ray’s 1992 single Achy Breaky Heart – and Karl couldn’t resist joining in.
Allison, who was also wearing a mullet wig, then said what everybody was thinking: ‘The problem is… yours looks very real!’
‘It is real!’ Alex jokingly replied.

The Today team were speaking to Laura Johnson, the organiser of Mulletfest in Kurri Kurri, a small town north of Sydney.
She explained: ‘The whole point of Mulletfest… was a way for us to create a tourism injection into the town and help save our pub and our town.
‘We are certainly proud to have put Kurri Kurri on the map.’
Justice Langdon! Karl then joked that Allison ‘looked like a Supreme Court justice’ in her short version of the wig leaving the team in fits of laughter
Ms Johnson also brought along her her son, Max, who stole the spotlight by showing off his own impressive mullet.
‘Oh, my goodness. Yeah, just shake it all out!’ said, cheering the boy on.
