Tragedy as 14-month-old baby is run over and killed

A 14-month old toddler has died after being run over by a car in rural Victoria.

A car was turning toward a slip lane on High Street in Kangaroo Flat, a south-western suburb of Bendigo, when it collided with the child about 7.20pm on Wednesday.

The 14-month-old child suffered critical injuries and was rushed to hospital and later died.

The 56-year-old driver of the car stopped at the scene to help and was helping police with their investigations. 

A total of 152 people have died on Victoria’s roads compared to 188 this time last year.
