A DELUGE of heavy showers, thunderstorms and flooding will continue to plague Britain for the rest of the week, the Met Office forecasts.
Environment Agency flood alerts – and more serious flood warnings – continue today as yet more bad weather sweeps in.

As many as 16 flood alerts and two flood warnings have been issued across the country for Tuesday – mainly affecting the Midlands and the North East.
Met Office weather maps also show scrawly and intense showers sweeping in from the west.
These severe bouts of rainfall will mainly affect Scotland, Northern Ireland and the far south and west of England.
Thankfully, the showers will be interspersed with spells of sunshine today – providing some respite for drenched Brits.
Severe gales topping 40mph will also be a big factor in the weather today – especially across the Highlands and western parts.
The Met Office said of Tuesday’s conditions: “Windy with a mixture of sunny spells and blustery showers, heavy at times.
“The heaviest and most frequent showers will be over western UK, especially western Scotland, whilst some eastern parts of England and Scotland may stay mostly dry.”
It added for tonight: “Clear spells and blustery showers, western Scotland and the far southwest of England and Wales likely seeing the heaviest showers.
“Becoming drier in some eastern parts of the UK. Windy.”
