Stoke City and Port Vale have both made it through to the second round of the Carabao Cup, with Stoke beating Blackpool via a penalty shoot-out last weekend and Vale winning 2-1 at Scunthorpe today thanks to Theo Robinson’s 93rd minute header.

Elswhere in the competition there were some big shocks, with Newport County beating Swansea City and Plymouth Argyle knocking out Queens Park Rangers.

When is the draw?

The draw for the second and third rounds of the Carabao Cup take place after Brentford play Wycombe in the first round on Sunday.

Just like Brentford against Wycombe, the draw will be live on Sky Sports Football.

How does the third round work?

The seven Premier League teams competing in Europe will enter in round three but will find out their potential opponents on Sunday.

After the second round draw, matches will be given a ball number based on the order they were drawn out in.

These numbers will then go to an unseeded third round draw with the seven European sides also taking part.

When will the ties be played?

Second-round ties will be played on either Tuesday, September 15 or Wednesday, September 16, with third-round matches the following mid-week.
